Summary
We ask for personal information only when we need it to run the studio and serve you well. We do not sell your personal information for money, and we never sell sensitive information such as health details or disclose it to advertising platforms. Our website advertising may qualify as a sale or as targeted advertising under some state privacy laws, and Section 5 explains how to opt out. We collect information fairly and with your knowledge, we tell you why we are collecting it, and we protect it. You have rights over your information, and Section 9 explains how to use them.

We use the word "Services" in this policy to mean our classes, private sessions, memberships and class packages, retail sales, events and workshops, our website, and our client account and booking platform.
By using our website or our Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use our website or Services. We may update this policy from time to time as described in Section 14.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information and have collected them within the past twelve months.
Identifiers and contact information. Your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and date of birth. You provide this when you create a client account, book a class, purchase a membership or class package, sign up for our email or text list, or register for an event. We use it to set up and maintain your account, process your bookings and payments, and communicate with you about the studio.
Emergency contact information. The name and phone number of a person we can reach in the event of a medical emergency during your visit. Providing this is optional but strongly encouraged.
Health and fitness information. Information you give us on our Liability Waiver & Release of Claims, Membership Agreement, client registration form, health history intake, or directly to your instructor, including injuries, surgeries, pregnancy or postpartum status, osteoporosis or bone density concerns, chronic conditions, physical limitations, and any other information relevant to your safety in class. We collect this for one reason: so we can teach you safely and modify exercises appropriately. Instructors may also record notes about your progress, modifications used, and equipment settings.
We are not a healthcare provider, and we are not a HIPAA covered entity. The information you share with us is not protected health information under HIPAA, but we treat it as sensitive and handle it accordingly.
Payment information. Payment card details, billing address, and transaction history. Card payments are processed by our third-party payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers on our own systems. We retain records of purchases, memberships, and payment history.
Booking and attendance records. The classes and sessions you book, attend, cancel, or miss, your membership or package status, waitlist activity, and any studio credits or adjustments to your account.
Studio purchases. Records of retail items you purchase from us, such as grip socks or branded merchandise.
Video and audio recording. Our studio is monitored by a closed-circuit video and audio recording system covering the entrances and the studio floor. It is in place for the security of our clients, staff, and property, for equipment monitoring, and for quality and safety review, including review of instructor cueing and instruction quality. Signs at the front and rear entrances notify you before you enter. There are no cameras or microphones in restrooms or changing areas.
Photographs and video. Images or video taken at the studio or at studio events, where you have consented. See Section 6.
Survey and feedback responses. Responses you provide to client feedback surveys, questionnaires, or reviews.
Website and device information. IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website, and approximate location derived from your IP address. This is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies. See Section 5.
Communications with us. The content of emails, text messages, voicemails, and social media messages you send us, and our records of our responses.
Social media information. If you follow, tag, message, comment on, or otherwise interact with our accounts on Instagram, Facebook, or other platforms, we may collect the profile information you have made publicly available through your own account settings, along with your public comments and feedback about the studio.
Job applicant and staff information. If you apply to teach or work at Couture Pilates, we collect the information in your application and any information required for onboarding, payroll, and employment records. This policy describes our client-facing practices; employment records are handled separately under our employment policies.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your client account and process your bookings, memberships, and class packages
- Process payments, issue refunds and credits, and handle billing questions
- Teach you safely, including modifying exercises based on the health information you provide
- Reach your emergency contact if there is a medical emergency at the studio
- Send you transactional messages such as booking confirmations, cancellation notices, waitlist alerts, schedule changes, and membership billing reminders
- Send you marketing messages about promotions, new class formats, events, and studio news, where you have consented to receive them
- Maintain the security of our premises, equipment, clients, and staff
- Improve our classes, schedule, facilities, and service, including through feedback surveys
- Advertise our studio, including through digital advertising on platforms such as Meta and Google
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms and Conditions, Membership Agreement, and Studio Policies, and establish or defend legal claims
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not profile you in that manner.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. Our website advertising may qualify as a sale or as targeted advertising under some state privacy laws, and Section 5 explains how to opt out. We do not sell, offer for sale, or license sensitive information, including health information, precise location, financial account credentials, or information about children.
We share information with the following categories of recipients:
Our booking and client management platform. We use a third-party studio management platform (WellnessLiving) to host client accounts, schedules, bookings, memberships, signed Membership Agreements and Liability Waivers, client notes, and payment processing. Your account information lives on that platform and is governed by its own privacy practices in addition to ours.
Payment processors. To process card transactions and recurring membership billing.
Class aggregator and wellness benefit partners. If you book with us through ClassPass or Wellhub, we exchange booking and attendance information with that partner so your reservation and benefit can be applied. Information you provide directly to those partners is governed by their privacy policies.
Email and text providers. To deliver our communications. Client feedback surveys are sent through our booking platform and responses are tallied by us; we do not use a separate survey vendor.
Advertising and analytics providers. Meta, for digital advertising and measurement, and Vercel, our website host, for aggregated site analytics. Our booking platform also uses its own analytics tools within its widgets and pages. See Section 5.
Our instructors and staff. Instructors have access to the client information they need to teach you safely, including health and injury notes and progress notes.
Professional advisors. Our attorneys, accountants, bookkeepers, payroll provider, and insurers, as needed.
Legal and safety disclosures. Government or law enforcement authorities in response to a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Couture Pilates, our clients, our staff, or the public, including in a medical emergency.
Business transfers. If Couture Pilates is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of its assets, client information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy as a result.
We require our service providers to protect the information we share with them and to use it only for the purposes we specify.
The specific third parties we work with. So you can review their practices directly, these are the third-party services that may receive or process your information, along with links to their privacy policies. This list is current as of the date above and may change.

- Paragon Payment Solutions (card and membership billing): paragonsolutions.com/privacy-policy/
- ClassPass (bookings made through ClassPass): classpass.com/privacy

- Meta, including Facebook and Instagram (advertising, measurement, social pages): facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Google (Google Business Profile and reviews): policies.google.com/privacy
- Vercel (website hosting and aggregated, cookieless site analytics): vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
We are not responsible for how these companies handle information you provide to them directly. We encourage you to read their policies.
5. Cookies, Pixels, and Tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including tracking pixels.
Essential cookies are necessary for the site and booking system to function. Without them, you may not be able to book or manage your account.
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it.
Advertising cookies and pixels, including the Meta pixel, record your visit to our site and your interactions with it so that we and our advertising partners can show you relevant advertising on other websites and platforms, and so we can measure whether our advertising is working. This activity may be considered "targeted advertising" or a "sale" of personal information under some state privacy laws, even though we receive no money for it.
Your choices. Advertising is on by default on our website unless you turn it off or your browser sends an opt-out signal. Use the Your Privacy Choices link in our website footer to turn advertising off at any time. Turning it off stops the Meta tools from loading and clears the related cookies we set. Your choice is saved in your browser, so you will need to set it again on a different browser or device, or if you clear your browsing data. Separately, most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. You can opt out of interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance at optout.aboutads.info and the Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org, and through your Meta and Google account ad settings.
Universal opt-out signals. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or extension transmits a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of targeted advertising and any sharing of your personal information that qualifies as a sale. A GPC signal takes precedence over the default and over any prior choice to leave advertising on.
Do Not Track. Separately from GPC, some browsers transmit a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no industry standard for how businesses should respond to DNT, and our website does not currently respond to it. Our commitment to honor GPC signals is not affected by this.
Consent and withdrawing consent. When you give us your information, you consent to our using it as described in this policy. You may withdraw that consent at any time by emailing hello@couturepilatesstudio.com. Withdrawing consent for certain information may limit what we can do for you. For example, if you withdraw the health information on your intake form, we cannot safely program your sessions, and if you ask us to delete your account information, we cannot maintain your bookings or membership.
Third-party content embedded on our site, such as fonts, maps, video players, our booking and scheduling widgets, review widgets, and social media links, may transmit information to those third parties under their own privacy policies, including their own analytics tools. Our website advertising control governs our own site and does not control what those embedded services collect.
6. Photography, Video, and Social Media
We sometimes take photographs or video at the studio and at studio events for use on our website, social media, and marketing materials.
Permission to use identifiable studio photographs and video is covered by the Media Release in our Liability Waiver & Release of Claims, signed before participation. If you would like us to stop using a particular image, email hello@couturepilatesstudio.com. Our practice is to honor removal requests where reasonably possible. Requests are considered at our discretion; this practice does not create a separate right to revoke the media license. Images already printed, distributed, or shared by others may not be recoverable.
If you post about the studio and tag us, we may reshare your public post. Tagging or mentioning us grants us a broad license to use that content, as described in Section 16 of our Terms and Conditions. Our practice is to honor removal requests where reasonably possible, so tell us if you would prefer we did not use your post.
Security camera footage is not used for marketing.
7. Text Messages
If you provide your mobile number and consent to receive text messages, we may text you about bookings, waitlists, schedule changes, and promotions. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for assistance. Opting out of marketing texts does not stop transactional messages about your bookings and account unless you ask us to remove your number entirely.
We collect your name and mobile number when you opt in, and we share them with the messaging providers that deliver our texts. We do this to operate our messaging program and to meet carrier requirements for 10DLC business messaging.
No mobile information will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Text message originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party except the providers who deliver the messages on our behalf.
8. Minors
Studio participation is limited to clients aged 16 and older. Clients aged 16 or 17 may participate only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, who must complete registration on the minor's behalf, provide the information described in this policy, and sign the Minor Participant Addendum to the Liability Waiver in person at the studio before the minor's first class. Website accounts and purchases are limited to adults aged 18 and older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at hello@couturepilatesstudio.com and we will delete it.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Confirm whether we process personal information about you and access a copy of it
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Obtain a portable copy of the information you provided to us
- Opt out of targeted advertising and any processing that qualifies as a sale of personal information
- Withdraw consent you previously gave, including consent to receive marketing
New Jersey residents have these rights under the New Jersey Data Privacy Act. Residents of other states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others, have similar rights under their own state laws. We extend these rights to all of our clients regardless of where they live.
How to make a request. Email hello@couturepilatesstudio.com with the subject line "Privacy Request," or call us at 908-350-0692, or write to us at 21 Leigh Street, Clinton, NJ 08809. Tell us what you are requesting and give us enough information to locate your records. You may use an authorized agent, and we may ask for proof of their authority.
Verification. We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on a request, usually by confirming information already in your account.
Timing. We will respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you within that period and may extend by an additional 45 days.
Limits. Deleting your personal information generally means closing your client account, since we cannot maintain an account without it. We may also need to retain certain records, including signed Liability Waivers, signed Membership Agreements, health intake forms, incident reports, and transaction records, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or defend against claims. We will tell you when this applies.
Appeals. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing hello@couturepilatesstudio.com with the subject line "Privacy Appeal." We will respond to your appeal within 45 days and explain our reasoning. If we deny your appeal, you may contact the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs or the attorney general of your state.
No retaliation. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.
10. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and afterward for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy or as the law requires.
- Client account, booking, and membership records: for the life of the account and afterward as needed for tax, accounting, and legal purposes
- Signed Liability Waivers, signed Membership Agreements, registration forms, and health intake: retained for seven years after your last visit. Waivers signed for participants aged 16 or 17 are retained until the participant reaches age 25
- Payment and transaction records: as required by tax and accounting rules
- Video and audio recordings: overwritten on a rolling basis within 14 days, unless retained for an incident investigation, a legal claim, or an instructor coaching review
- Marketing contact information: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it
- Website analytics data: as set by the retention settings of our analytics providers
11. How We Protect Your Information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your information. Our client platform is password protected and access is limited to staff who need it. Our payment processors are required to meet Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards. Paper records kept at the studio, such as private session progress notes, are stored securely on site.
You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential. We will never ask you for your password by phone or email. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed improperly.
12. Links to Other Websites
Our website and communications may link to third-party sites, including our booking platform, our payment processor, our social media pages, and partner platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Review their policies before providing information to them.
13. Visitors From Outside the United States
Couture Pilates operates in the United States and our Services are directed to residents of the United States. If you access our Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your country.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the revised policy on couturepilatesstudio.com with a new "Last Updated" date, and where appropriate we will notify you by email. Changes take effect when posted.
15. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Nothing in this Privacy Policy limits the rights you have under the privacy laws of the state where you live, or your ability to contact your state attorney general.
